When the murder mystery crew asked if they could write a role for Chef Gertie, we were all in!!!! What a grand time we had last night serving our crowd of 75 "the body parts" of the deceased Taylor Crane! From bone marrow and osso bucco to pork belly and lychee "eyeballs"...each course a little more grotesque than the last. Chef Gertie played Emilia, Taylor's sister, and come to find out Taylor was having an affair with her HUSBAND! In the end, poor guilty and insane Chef Gertie poisoned them all and died on the dining room floor...shot dead by her own mother!!
What a wonderful poolside rehearsal dinner. Thank you Janet & Gary, for allowing 3 Girls to be a part of this celebration!

We are so excited about Amy Larson's new book, Appetite For Idaho Folks, Food, and Fun! Although we are transplants to Idaho, we absolutely love the State. We also love learning about new places to visit and great places to do what we love – EAT! We are proud to announce that Amy wrote about 3 Girls Catering in her new book (page 187 – 188). Our favorite farmer David Mitchell paid us a visit yesterday. Such a great time!! And we hear he's raising goats so he might be able to make us some chèvre soon! W his micro herbs? It's sure to blow my mind!
At 3 Girls we are aaaaaall about family! This year has been a great time for Symun, our Elf on the Shelf, and his crazy shenanigans!! So while we love traditions focused on food...we love our Elf just as much!

Last week we launched our Gourmet on the Go family meal pick up service...and what a success it was!! All meals serve at least 4 adult size portions and are made with fresh, hand-selected ingredients. This week we offered Mediterranean chicken stew topped with feta biscuits...peppered pork belly, sweet Thai chile salmon, grilled chicken glazed in our house BBQ sauce...with sides like brown rice and cranberry pilaf, focaccia stuffing and roasted fingerling potatoes with herbs and preserved lemon. We offer endless salads with our famous honey-balsamic vinaigrette, Caesar or creamy herb dressing. For soup we offered tomato- basil served with a fresh baked focaccia. Dessert is always available as are 16 and 32oz portions of our dressings, smokey BBQ sauce and other great scratch made sauces for your meals. We encourage adding soup to at least 1 of your weekly dinners to warm your bones!!
Full dinners $55 (order 3 or more and receive complimentary dessert with each meal. Soup/salad/bread $40, Desserts for 4:$12, add 32 oz soup for $10. Vegetarian, Gluten Free and Paleo menus always available. All meals are oven ready and currently available (w pre-order) for pick up at our Eagle location 3210 Chinden Blvd, Suite 131 Eagle ID 83616. HONALEE FARM ENGAGEMENT
We are so excited to share this stunning styled photo shoot with you, our favorite clients (past, present and future!). We selected Honalee Farm in Eagle, Idaho for the shoot's location. The farm was the perfect backdrop for this warm and magical night. The spectacular fall evening started off with a delicious spread of antipasti from 3 Girls Catering, served on the rustic hors d’oeuvres table created by Blush Creek. You'll notice bursts of color everywhere from the vibrant flowers seen throughout the photos provided by the witty and talented Matt at Edwards Greenhouse. The dinner menu shows beautiful Snake River Farms American Kobe striploin and Gutierrez Family Farms lamb lollipops served underneath the towering oak tree with a chandelier and mercury glass twinkling. Katie from Peace of Mind Event Planning designed gorgeous details like the table decor (including the fantastic apple name cards). There's nothing like a surprise proposal to finish our amazing dinner party with great friends! (This is all just part of our styled shoot, so there shall be no rumors flying about David and Keri getting engaged, but they could have fooled us!) Our featured couple were such great sports and played their parts perfectly - Keri’s makeup was provided by Blush by Jamie Rose. Also on our crew was Eric from Boise Wedding Productions, creating a video of this event that we are excited to show you soon. We had so much fun getting to know all of these amazing vendors a little bit better and every shot is STUNNING. We loved staging these magical photos and look forward to working with these fun and talented people again in the near future.

It's no secret that we love our celeb clients...but this month we were so fortunate to be able to serve Crosby, Stills & Nash a specially crafted organic dinner made with as many Idaho ingredients we could get our lil hands on. We highlighted our scratch made focaccia, beautiful Vogel Farms free range chicken breasts, Snake River Farms strip loin, MM Heath potatoes, Ohana Farm tomatoes, zucchini, acorn squash, cucumbers and micro herbs...arugula, thyme, ruby streaks mustard and colorful flowers from Purple Sage Farms and so much more.
We were more than a little star-struck when describing our dishes to these worldly gents who have traveled the globe for decades eating Only the finest foods...you could have knocked me over with a feather when David Crosby himself came to find me, put his arm around me and sing my praises!! He was so thankful for the time and care I put into selecting the ingredients for his menu, and went on and on about how obvious it is that our staff loves our clients and the meals we create.
It's days like these that make all the hard work it!!
We had a great time at Franz Witte for Tomato Tuesday's Bloody Mary Challenge! We were up against some pretty stiff competition from Bardenay and The Modern...
We oven roasted, simmered, puréed and froze our local organic tomato mix - blended with chipotles, garlic, Arubas & jalapeños, lemon, red onions, cucumbers and lots of cracked pepper. The frozen blocks were then chipped into manageable chunks and bagged up to head out on open the road.
Our Bardenay vodka was pepper steeped (jalapeños & scotch bonnets) w oranges, lemons & cilantro for about 7 days...
Now if that wasn't enough we tossed it all in a blender and poured it into a glass rimmed with our world famous dill pickle salt.
But wait!! There's more...we garnished our Fria Maria w a cheddar-cream cheese stuffed jalapeño popper wrapped in prosciutto!! Cheers
The Great Earthly Delights Farm
Earthly Delights Farm has created a WATERMELON SEED ROUNDUP! It's genius, and what the Treasure Valley is all about...
Earthly Delights says,
"We’ve sent you home with a watermelon only because you’ve agreed to return the seeds to us for next year’s crops! Thank you for participating in our local seed sovereignty movement! This variety is Blacktail Mountain, bred in Northern Idaho!
Here’s how to save ‘em:
- EAT YOUR WATERMELON! Spit the seeds into a jar.
- DECANT: Fill the jar with water. The mature seeds will sink and the immature seeds and bits of pulp will float. Pour off the immature seeds and pulp. Repeat several times if necessary to get clean seed at the bottom of the jar.
- DRY: Dump the seeds into a strainer, then onto a plate (don’t use paper—the seeds will stick!). Stir them every so often so they dry evenly. Once they’re dry, bring them back to the farm! (Keep a few seeds for your own garden if you want! They will grow true, because we’ve properly isolated them from other varieties!)
